Zonulin - GI-MAP Essentials on DSL Academy
This Zonulin Module is part of the GI‑MAP® Essentials Course on our DSL Academy.
Zonulin, an optional add-on marker to GI‑MAP, is a protein that regulates the permeability of the intestinal barrier. It’s essential for maintaining intestinal health and gut function.
This presentation focuses on GI barrier function and GI barrier regulation, providing insights into how Zonulin affects the integrity of the intestinal lining and delving into its role in the body. It’s produced normally, but chronic elevated Zonulin levels can be associated with various conditions.
Included is a short example of analyzing Zonulin levels on the GI‑MAP to assess intestinal permeability. This information can be valuable in identifying potential gut issues and developing appropriate treatment strategies. To address intestinal hyperpermeability, various approaches can be taken. Dietary changes, lifestyle modifications, and supplements can all contribute to gut repair and improve Zonulin levels.
